The Society of Flight Test Engineers (SFTE) is an international professional organization whose mission is to advance flight test effectiveness, safety, and efficiency. This Society is dedicated to sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration across the aerospace industry by promoting expertise and esteem amongst flight test professionals.
SFTE is looking for a part-time contract Social Media Manager to join our team. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and posting content on our social media channels to promote SFTE events and activities, with the goal of increasing membership engagement. This position is remote, part time (10-20 hours per month) and flexible around your schedule. Social media content will be provided by the Board, membership, and chapters around the world. The Social Media Manager would also be asked to attend the SFTE International Symposium (held in October each year) to document and promote the event directly. Travel, room and board will be covered for this trip. The ideal candidate will have some interest or experience in aviation, aerospace, aerospace engineering, or flight test.
An hourly rate will be dependent on experience and a bonus structure will be offered in addition to the hourly rate. This bonus structure will be based on new memberships and new social media followers.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and developing social media content to promote SFTE events and activities
- Crafting compelling content in collaboration with the SFTE Board of Directors (mainly: President, Secretary, Past President, Publicity Chair) and SFTE contractors (Administrator and Business Development)
- Creating graphics and videos in line with SFTE’s brand aesthetic
- Posting content across social media accounts
- Create and maintain a social media content calendar in collaboration with the SFTE President
- Engaging with SFTE members and other stakeholders on social media channels
- Meet weekly with the SFTE President to status progress and plan future content
- Attend the annual SFTE Symposium (the 2024 Symposium is in Seattle, WA)
Desired start date is the beginning of September 2024.
Qualifications
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
- Experience with Vector files and graphics
- Knowledge of best practices for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, etc. and related online tools (e.g. Canva)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Aptitude for crafting engaging content
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to self-manage workload in a remote environment
Highly Preferred:
- Interest or experience in aerospace, aerospace engineering or aviation
- Photography and videography skills
