2024 Summer For Credit Internship – Sequential Artist:
137 Ewes Productions creates Comics, Animations, and Prose. Founded in 2023, we produce original content in various lengths. We are incredibly excited to find out more about our characters, stories, and world through working with you.
Internship Duration
July 1st – August 23rd
Application Deadline
May 31st, 2024 11:59pm pst.
Responsibilities
Will be assigned up to 30 pages of comic script and/or screenplay to transform into Comic Panels throughout the summer.
- Draft thumbnails with given scripts / stories
- Edit based on feedback
- Line work for approved thumbnails
- Color for approved Line work (only if you want to have color in your portfolio)
What We Look for in Your Portfolio:
Portfolio demonstrates variety in Composition, Panel size, Panel arrangement, Dynamic framing,
Clean and readable linework, and Comprehension and delivery of various perspective drawings
Understanding of color is a plus
Note: We are looking for various styles. Do not use our existing work / website as a reference at all.
Qualifications
- Good grasp of perspectives, camera angles, and various shot types in film and animation
- Strong draftsmanship / drawing skills
- Strong composition in arrangement of panels and how story flows in static images / comic format
- Great understanding of herbivores, four-legged locomotion, animal behaviors and/or passion to want to learn these areas (we are only at the tip of the iceberg to truly understand animals)
- Great understanding of various emotions and how to express them effectively
- Fluent with Adobe Photoshop to draw / ClipStudio is also accepted if artist vouches for it
- Time Management ability to complete assignments on time
- Wild creativity to stretch your imagination in composition, rhythm, lighting to enhance the story you are assigned to
- Unique perspectives shown through your portfolio
- Effective at taking notes on feedback and implementing verbal, written, and/or draw-over feedback
- Allotting minimum of 20 hours per week and maximum 32 hours on actual drawings for storyboards during this internship
- REQUIRED: Be a rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior in a BFA program, ideally in Storyboarding, Sequential Art, and/or Animation. OR in an enrolled MFA program of similar degree: Storyboarding / Sequential Art / Animation [You must verify you are enrolled after internship acceptance or we need to rescind the offer]

- University Credit [we strongly recommend you find a supervisor / advisor at your school to evaluate your internship work and give credit]
- Based on how your University offers credits for internships, we can customize / design the internship according to your school’s requirements to fulfill your credit needs.
- Internship is Module / Assignment / Curriculum based to help you pace and accomplish goals so that you have proud work to show after the internship.
- You work at YOUR pace. We are not asking for professional industry standards as you are still learning. We are patient and usually assess your pace in the first two weeks of your output.
- You decide how much you want to challenge yourself.
- The work you produce gets to go into your portfolio right away after the internship, provided that you will have the work password protected (We will give you instructions)
