First Step Alliance is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization committed to charitable and educational causes that help advance successful reentry and sustainable financial independence for justice-involved individuals. Our programs are focused on economic empowerment through improved access to mainstream banking and the financial education people need to create a path to long-term financial well-being. We partner with reentry programs, credit unions and other community-based organizations to fulfill our mission.
The Digital Marketing & Grant Research Intern is responsible for the management and expansion of our social media presence in alignment with our mission, strategy and direction. You will play an important role in continuing to increase awareness for First Step Alliance and our important initiatives. As we are also actively seeking grants from the public and private sectors, you will also conduct research to identify opportunities and assist with the grant writing process. You will work closely with the First Step Alliance leadership team and receive guidance, information, and training as needed to perform this role.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate in developing marketing and community outreach strategies that leverage social media and email marketing. You will own the execution of the plans.
- Content creation across social channels, including blog posts, status updates, photos and videos.
- Manage and grow organization’s presence across social media channels, with a focus on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Leverage measurement tools to provide progress reports and insights, while continually finding ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives .
- Research potential grant opportunities and write draft proposals.
Qualifications/Experience/Education:
- Students currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
- Basic knowledge of Canva and Wix.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
- Experience with social media advertising and analytics a plus.
- Knowledge of email marketing platforms a plus.
Important Note: the estimated time commitment for this internship is 10 hours per week for 10-12 weeks. Some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.
